With his flamboyant outfit and exaggerated, dramatic personality, Donquixote Doflamingo is a very popular character to cosplay. Also known as Heavenly Yaksha (Heavenly Demon), this interesting character is part of the One Piece franchise. He was captain of the Donquixote Pirates and Seven Warlords of the Sea before his shocking capture and arrest!
Doflamingo’s outfit is fairly easy to put together but looks incredibly impressive! This guide will tell you everything you need to know to cosplay Doflamingo.
How to Make Your Doflamingo Costume

01
Shirt
Our character wears a plain white shirt with long sleeves. It has black buttons around the top and he wears it open to reveal his muscly chest. There are small Jolly Roger cufflinks on the wrists (this is a pirate symbol).
The shirt comes with ready-made costumes, but it’s also easy to replicate it. Simply buy a plain white, long-sleeved shirt. You can easily add the button details by sewing them or using fabric paint to draw them on the collar area. Jolly Roger cufflinks can be bought separately.
- Doflamingo wears a long-sleeved white shirt with some black detailing.
- Buy a ready-made shirt as part of a costume, or buy a white shirt and add the decoration yourself.

02
Jacket
The most iconic and important part of any Donquixote Doflamingo costume is the jacket! It’s large, light pink, and covered in feathers (think flamingo to match his name). Post Time Skip he wears it draped over his shoulders on top of the shirt, rather than with his arms in the sleeves.
Although you can get a similar jacket with a ready-made costume, they’re typically nowhere near as fluffy and don’t have feathers. They’re often a soft, fluffy material in a light pink color to mimic his jacket on a budget. However, since the jacket is the most distinctive part of the costume, if you want to go all out you could buy one from a cosplay maker. Or, if you’re handy with a needle, you could make one yourself! There are patterns and tutorials from other cosplayers online.
- Doflamingo’s jacket is the most important and noticeable part of his outfit.
- Get one as part of a Donquixote Doflamingo costume, or try making a more accurate one yourself.

03
Trousers and Belt
Heavenly Yaksha wears pink trousers with white stripes and patterns. They are ¾ length, ending around his calves. The pink is darker than the light pink of his jacket. They’re fairly tight to his legs, with a bit more give as they reach the knees. He also wears an orange belt around his waist with green or blue ropes tying it together.
Ready-made costumes usually have the trousers and belt available as one, with the belt printed onto the bottoms. More high-quality costumes may come with the belt separately.
If you want to try putting the costume together yourself, you could easily use fabric paint to add white patterns to pink trousers. The belt could be replicated with orange fabric and green thread.
- You’ll need pink trousers with white stripes, as well as an orange and green belt.
- Source them as part of a costume or construct them yourself.

04
Shoes
Doflamingo wears flat black, slip-on, dress shoes. They’re slightly pointed at the toe in many depictions. This is perhaps the least important and noticeable part of the outfit - any flat black shoes will do.
The majority of costumes won’t come with the shoes, but you could use any similar shoes you own. Depending on how accurate you want to be, you could add your own twist to the character with a different style of black shoes.
- Doflamingo wears flat black dress shoes with a pointed toe.
- Source some to replicate his shoes, or get creative with any black shoes.

05
Hair
Our pirate has very short blonde hair which is roughly styled. It spikes out at all angles, with some pieces falling over his forehead slightly.
The easiest way to replicate this is with a wig. There are plenty of ready-styled wigs that will work. Some Doflamingo costumes even come with the wig! If you prefer, you can try to style your own hair. You could match the color using temporary dye or colored hair wax.
- Our character has a very short blonde with a messy style.
- Buy a ready-styled wig or get creative with your own hair.

06
Fine Details
Adding details to your costume makes it look more professional and seamless. One of the most crucial details you can add is Doflamingo’s sunglasses. They have points at the top outer corners and reddish-orange lenses. The sunglasses often come with Doflamingo costumes or you can source similar frames.
In Post Time Skip depictions he wears gold hoop earrings. These are easy to copy with any plain gold hoops if you have pierced ears.
Finally, you could use makeup or body paint to match our pirate’s muscles (which are on show since he wears his shirt open). He has a very pronounced six-pack! You may also want to use makeup to contour and ‘chisel out’ your face to mimic his facial features.
- Donquixote Doflamingo has a six-pack, a chiseled face, sunglasses, and hoop earrings.
- Consider adding some of these details to make your cosplay come together.
