How to Make Your Mitsuri Costume

Mitsuri wears a type of Demon Slayer Corps uniform, consisting of a black shirt and mini skirt with white detailing. In some ready-made costumes, the two will be combined into a dress. Either way, the skirt part is always short and pleated. In some depictions, the costume looks like a deep plum color rather than black, but either color will work.

The shirt has a high neck and golden buttons. It is unbuttoned and open across her chest because it’s tight fitting.

Ready-made costumes are the easiest way to mimic this outfit, as they will come with all the detailing on the top and skirt. Alternatively, you could source a black outfit and add the detailing yourself. If you’re very handy with crafts, you could make this part of the costume from scratch - there are tutorials online.

Over the top of her base outfit, Mitsuri wears a white haori. It’s a traditional Japanese jacket with long sleeves and a loose fit, similar to a kimono. Most ready-made Mitsuri Kanroji costumes come with a white jacket to mimic the haori. However, you could buy a haori separately if you want to be more authentic.

Our hero wears blue thigh-high socks layered with bright lime green thigh-high socks over the top. The green socks have horizontal stripes on them.

You can go for the layered effect or buy the replica lime green socks with blue detailing around the top. Some cosplayers just opt for the lime green socks to make things simpler. You could always use fabric paint or dye to add the appearance of blue socks poking out from the top of the green ones.

One of the most distinctive parts of Mitusri’s costume is her hair. It’s very long and is pink at the top fading into lime green halfway down. She wears it in three thick braids. One braid hangs down her back and the other two come forward, one over each shoulder. She also has a choppy fringe that frames her face.

The easiest way to copy this hairstyle is to buy a ready-made wig. On the other hand, you could think outside the box and get creative with your own hair, using dyes and extensions. Don’t be afraid to put your own twist on her hair - the color is the most important feature.

Most Mitsuri costumes don’t come with sandals. Thankfully, you can buy cheap sandals with pink straps online - there is plenty of choice. Another option is to buy plain sandals and paint the straps pink.

Our costume wouldn’t be complete without our weapon! Mitsuri has a sword that is thin and flexible. It can move like a whip! Her sword has pink detailing, which nicely matches the pink on the rest of her outfit. You can wear the sword attached to your waist, or carry it around with you for poses.

A lot of ready-made costumes will come with a Mitsuri sword, but you can buy a replica sword separately if needed. If you prefer, you could buy a plain toy sword and decorate it, or you could try to make one yourself from scratch! You can find tutorials online.

Mitsuri has a small beauty mark beneath each eye, and blushing cheeks. You can easily add these details with makeup.
