Spider Gwen (also known as Gwen Stacy) is a well-loved character from Marvel Comics. A key part of the Spiderman franchise, she’s a powerful heroine with superhuman abilities. She’s also great fun to cosplay! Her costume stands out yet is easy to put together.
This guide will take you through how to cosplay Spider Gwen and everything you need to know to put together your costume.
How to Make Your Spider Gwen Costume

01
Jumpsuit or Top and Bottoms
There are two options for the main part of your Spider Gwen costume - you can go for a full bodysuit, or a separate top and bottoms. Both look good, it really depends on your preference and where you source your costume.
The bodysuit has black trousers and a black section in the center of the top (it looks like a strapless black top). The rest of the torso is made up of white along with white arms and gloves. There’s also a white hood which can be worn up over your head or down depending on the look you’re going for. There’s pink detailing in Gwen’s spider web pattern on the arms and inside the hood.
The bodysuit is tight fitting, in keeping with her sleek style. Often ready-made Gwen costumes feature the bodysuit. Some people also choose to make the suit themselves or decorate a plain white bodysuit.
If you prefer your costume in two separate parts, you can buy a ready-to-wear Spider Gwen top or hoodie with the same details as the bodysuit. You’ll need tight black leggings or other skin-tight black trousers to pair with it. You can get these from anywhere - as long as they’re black and sit close to your body they will work.
- Decide whether you want to go for a bodysuit or a two-piece costume.
- Buy a ready-made bodysuit or source a top and tight black trousers.

02
Gloves
Gwen’s arms and hands are covered in tight-fitting white gloves. If you choose to go for the bodysuit option, the gloves are often part of the suit. If your gloves don’t come with your bodysuit (or you’ve chosen the top and trousers option), you’ll need to add them yourself.
Any pair of tight white gloves will do, as long as they meet the arms of your costume and don’t leave a gap of skin showing.
- Gwen's lower arms and hands are covered with white gloves.
- If your costume doesn’t include them, source a pair of white gloves to add to your look.

03
Shoes
To make sure she’s ready for action, our heroine wears blue flat shoes. They look like ballet pumps. In some depictions, they have fabric attached that ties around her lower leg. They’re a sort of teal blue color.
If you’re going for accuracy, source teal ballet pumps. However, the color and the fact that the shoes are flat is more important than the style. Some cosplayers opt for blue sneakers rather than pumps. You could even get some plain pumps or sneakers and dye them teal.
- Source flat teal shoes to match our character’s look..
- Alternatively, you could get inventive and dye some flat shoes teal.

04
Mask
Possibly the most iconic part of the Gwen costume is her mask. It’s white and covers her whole face, with pink outlines around her eyes - think like goggles or lenses. Not every cosplayer chooses to wear the mask, some opt for a wig instead (we’ll talk about that in the next section). However, if you do decide on the masked look, it’s a chance to get inventive.
Many Spider Gwen costumes come with the mask included. But you could also think outside the box and use face paint, or buy some pink glasses or goggles to mimic the look of the mask. You could even try to make it yourself if you’re good at crafts - there are some tutorials online to help guide you.
- Decide whether you want to go for the masked look.
- If you do, source a ready-made mask or get creative and mimic her mask.

05
Hair
If you decide to go for the unmasked Gwen look, then you’ll need to think about matching the character’s hair. Gwen has short blonde hair with dark roots, styled in a rough bob with quite a bit of texture. It’s shorter on one side with a slight undercut (meaning the underneath part is shaved).
This hairstyle can be quite difficult to mimic, so most people opt for a wig. Some wigs come pre-styled but you can also get a cheap blonde wig and style it yourself. Many cosplayers just go for the blonde hair and don’t worry so much about the style - it depends on how accurate you want to get.
- If you decide not to wear the mask, you’ll need to match Gwen’s hair.
- Buy a wig or get creative to style your hair if it’s short.

Hailing from Australia, we have Bianca Bella! She’s been cosplaying since 2012 and you can see her experience in the way she puts together her magnificent cosplays. She’s also a mental health advocate and chronic pain warrior.
We adore her pose in her Spider Gwen cosplay - she’s kneeling and ready to spring into action at any moment. She’s gone for the masked version of the character and it’s beautifully done. We even like that she’s gone for teal Converse instead of ballet pumps, putting her own twist on the outfit.

06
Ashla's Workshop
Coming in at number six is Ashla's workshop. She’s an accomplished cosplayer with a love of cosplaying primarily alien characters. Although, she does portray other characters like Gwen from time to time. And she does it well!
We love that she’s picked an unmasked look for Gwen and chosen a slightly longer blonde bob. She’s even got a pink tint to the ends of her hair to match the pink in the bodysuit - stunning! But it’s the pose that makes this cosplay stand out the most, superbly capturing our Spider-Woman.
